“EPHPHATHA… BE OPENED!”(Mk 7:34)

This year's theme, "Ephphatha... Be Opened!", comes from the Gospel of Mark, where Jesus speaks these words as He heals a man who is deaf and unable to speak.

This man lives in isolation, trapped by his inability to hear and to communicate. Jesus calls him to open himself. With tenderness and compassion, He touches the man's ears and mouth, then, with a sigh, speaks a single word: "Ephphatha... Be Opened!"

This is more than a physical healing—it is, above all, a spiritual one. Jesus frees us from deafness and silence, inviting us first to listen, and then to speak.

We all arrived in the Community spiritually deaf and mute—unable to hear God or those around us, and unable to express or share the burdens we carried within us from our lives in the world. Here, the Lord has called us away to heal our wounds, so that we might be saved and reborn into a new life in Him.

Mother Elvira invited us to open the door of our hearts to Jesusby kneeling before Him in Adoration,
by opening our ears to hear His Word, which is a light for our path,
by opening ourselves to sharing and serving our brothers and sisters,
so that together we may walk toward the Light.

The door of the heart has only one handle.
It is on the inside! Only we, in our freedom,
can open it to the Lord who knocks.
Ask Him for help. Open the door of your heart,
let Him come in… and your joy will be complete!
-Mother Elvira

Comunità Cenacolo depends and lives totally on the Providence of God, who sustains us through the gifts and contributions of those who desire to help in this work of God’s mercy. We receive no government funds, diocesan funds, nor do we ask payment of anyone living in Community. We learn to live in gratitude, realizing that our joy does not depend on what we have or what we lack. We know and trust that the Father, who is rich in mercy, will give us all that we need.
